On these tablets, also known as the Tablets of the Covenant, God inscribed the Ten Commandments. As their name indicates, the Tablets of the Covenant are a sign of the pact between God and Israel as it was enacted at Mount Sinai.

The Ten Commandments are a yardstick and guide for moral behavior, encompassing the relationship of each of us to God, family, and community. They have reached across centuries and around the world to become a universal standard for justice and ethical conduct.
